Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Muteiny mobile application and website at muteiny.com (collectively, the “Service”) operated by Muteiny (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Muteiny. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
Your account
- You sign in with your phone number and are responsible for activity on your account.
- You agree to provide accurate information, including your display name.
- You are responsible for keeping access to your phone and device secure.
- You may sign out at any time from Settings in the app.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Muteiny to:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, or harm others
- Send spam, unsolicited messages, or deceptive content
- Share illegal content or content that infringes others' rights
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems without authorization
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
We may investigate violations and suspend or terminate access to protect users and the Service. Muteiny has zero tolerance for objectionable content, harassment, threats, abuse, or illegal activity. Violations may result in content removal and account suspension.
Reporting and blocking
You can report objectionable messages from within the app (long-press a message → Report message), or email support@muteiny.com. You can also block abusive users from their profile or from a message. Blocking leaves any direct chats with that person and hides their messages in shared group chats (no notifications or unread for those messages). Blocked people cannot start a new chat with you or add you to groups. You may optionally report them when blocking; we review reports within 24 hours and may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
Content filtering
GIF search uses Giphy's rated content API (PG-13). External links in messages are restricted to standard web URLs. Text and user-uploaded media are moderated through these Terms, in-app reporting, blocking, and our review process.
Your content
You retain ownership of messages, photos, videos, and other content you send through Muteiny (“User Content”). You grant us a limited license to host, store, transmit, and display User Content solely to operate the Service and make it available to members of your groups.
You are solely responsible for User Content you send. Do not send content you do not have the right to share.
Groups and other users
Muteiny is a messaging service. Other group members can see messages and media you send in groups you belong to. You choose who to invite and which groups to join. Leaving a group removes it from your account; other members may retain access to prior messages sent while you were a member.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use information. By using the Service, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.
Service availability
We strive to keep Muteiny available and reliable, but the Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, with or without notice.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Muteiny and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of USD $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (if any).
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Muteiny from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. Delete your account from Settings in the app (phone verification required) or contact support@muteiny.com. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe termination is necessary to protect the Service or other users.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where prohibited by applicable local law.
